AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The Latest on primary elections in Texas (all times CST):

10 a.m.

Democratic turnout for Texas’ primary has exceeded primary midterm vote totals not seen since 1994, when the party was beginning its slide into the political wilderness in a state that had for decades been a Democratic stronghold.

More than 1,036,950 voters cast ballots for the U.S. Senate race in Tuesday’s Democratic primary, the party’s highest midterm primary election total in at least 24 years.

Republicans also set a new non-presidential year primary turnout record, exceeding 1.5 million votes Tuesday.

With Rising Voter Turnout, Democrats Hope To Turn Parts Of Texas Blue

Bins of signs are seen in a storage are at the Bexar County Election offices last month in San Antonio.

Texans are casting their votes in their primaries Tuesday, the first contests of the 2018 election cycle. But voters in the Lone Star State have been voting for almost two weeks already — and there’s been a big surge in enthusiasm across the board.

Driven by anti-President Trump fervor, in this typically deep red state, there are plenty of positive signs for a once-latent Democratic Party in the state. Early vote turnout for the minority party has surpassed GOP totals — and even bested their 2016 numbers. Democrats have also fielded a record number of candidates in all 36 congressional districts, and there’s the potential to flip maybe three or more seats come November.

Staff Photographer

The free ride could soon be over for Dallas Streetcar passengers, Dallas City Council members said Monday.

Members of the council’s Mobility, Infrastructure and Sustainability Committee expressed support for a fare on the Dallas Streetcar, which is operated in partnership with Dallas Area Rapid Transit. But the council members said their support isn’t about money generated by a fare — the revenue would only cover a small portion of the streetcar’s annual cost — but, rather, a matter of fairness.

"Everyone else who rides a DART bus or a DART rail pays a fare," said Sandy Greyson, who represents Far North Dallas. "It seems to me if people are riding the streetcar, they should pay a fare."

The streetcar, a 2...

Here’s Why You Should Keep Adding REITs to Your Portfolio

The overall performance of the REIT industry in 2017 has not been awe-inspiring amid macroeconomic uncertainty in the nation and restrained trading activity. However, a number of asset categories have stood out and generated solid returns, at times even above the broader market.

Here’s Why You Should Keep Adding REITs to Your Portfolio

Moreover, due to the presence of favorable market conditions, these REITs have enough scope to excel in the future. This reinstalls our confidence and encourages us to focus on individual market dynamics that play a crucial role in determining the performance of REITs.

Furthermore, instead of worrying over the December rate hike, one needs to shift attention to the better outlook provided by the Fed this time, in terms of GDP growth for 2018, a positive revi...
